Description: |
1939 brochure issued by the "Bataviasche Kunstkring" announcing a sales-exhibition of Balinese art. |
Period: |
1939 |
Comment: |
Small brochure issued just before the war broke out.
Uncertain times then which was reflected in the price-level. This was lower than the sales-exhibition from 1937.(see Tobo 633)
The most expensive carving by I Rodja costed 45 Dutch Guilders, and the most expensive carving was a rangda for 60 Guilders.
The deer with off spring, depicted on the cover, is listed as number 18, done by an anonymous artist.
Also at the drawing-painting section we see lower prices.
Although a pen-drawing of a Balinese cremation by I B Made Djatasoera demanded 80 Guilders.
