Sutasoma, a reincarnation of Buddha, offers himself to the tigress as prey
1930-1940
Remarkably seized carving. Also a metal kris in a woodcarving is unusual for Bali carvings. These kind of statues, depicting scenes from old Hindu folk tales, were quite common before 1940. But after the big tourist influx the Balinese artists were not making them anymore. Undoubtly it takes a mastercarver to accomplish such a complicated piece.
