TOBO-00225
Dancer in the jaws of a demon.
1950-1960
Wellknown type of Bali carving. Many thousands were produced and are still being made. The reason must be that the early models were popular with the tourists. This carving however must be one of the first that was made, judging at the highly skilled execution of the carving and the many beautiful ornaments that decorate the statue. A lot of work has been put in to make this an attractive and appealing woodcarving. The ALIT-family is known for its woodcarving skills, and some family members have had exhibitions abroad (Japan).
